A Milestone at TOAF: Winning the National Emerging Artist Award in Painting

Sharing stage with the other award winners at TOAF

This summer, I had the incredible honor of receiving the National Emerging Artist Award in Painting at the 64th Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (TOAF).

TOAF is Canada’s largest and longest-running contemporary art fair, and being part of it was already a milestone for me as an emerging artist. To be recognized with this award among so many talented artists felt surreal and deeply affirming.

My work often explores the intersection of architecture, abstraction, and the natural world—blending geometric forms with organic textures to create layered landscapes. It was humbling to see these ideas resonate with such a wide audience, from collectors and curators to people simply passing by the fair who paused to connect with my paintings.

Beyond the recognition, what I cherish most are the conversations I had throughout the fair—sharing my process, hearing how people experienced the work, and realizing how art can spark connection across so many different walks of life.

This award is a reminder to keep experimenting, pushing my practice further, and trusting the path I’m on. I’m deeply grateful to the jury, TOAF, and everyone who has supported my journey so far.

I’m excited to carry this momentum into new projects and upcoming exhibitions—and I can’t wait to share more soon.
